Conflict of interest management policy

Policy

We identify, avoid and, where avoidance is not possible, mitigate and disclose conflicts of interest between ourselves, our associates and our clients.

Scope

This policy applies to FX212 (Pty) Ltd, its director, employees and representatives, and to any associate or third party whose interests could influence the services we provide. It is adopted within the conflict of interest management framework of CAEP Asset Managers (Pty) Ltd, FSP 33933.

Identifying conflicts

A conflict of interest is any situation in which we, or a person connected to us, have an actual or potential interest that may influence the objective performance of our obligations to a client, or prevent us from rendering an unbiased and fair service in the client’s interest. This includes financial interests, ownership interests and relationships with third parties.

Staff must report any actual or potential conflict to the Compliance Officer as soon as they become aware of it. Reported conflicts are recorded in a conflicts register.

Avoiding and mitigating conflicts

Where a conflict can be avoided, we avoid it. Where it cannot, we put measures in place to manage it, such as segregation of duties, independent review of decisions, personal account dealing rules and, where appropriate, declining to act.

We do not offer or accept any financial interest other than those permitted under the FAIS General Code of Conduct. Any immaterial financial interest received from a single third party may not exceed R1,000 in a calendar year and is recorded in a gifts register.

Disclosure

Where a conflict remains after mitigation, we disclose it to the affected client in writing, in clear terms and before or at the time the service is rendered, so that the client can make an informed decision.

Details of our ownership interests and our relationships with associates and product suppliers are available on request from the Compliance Officer.

Training, monitoring and review

All staff and representatives are made aware of this policy and its requirements. The Compliance Officer monitors adherence, and the policy is reviewed at least once a year.

Compliance Officer: Anthony Nathan, anthony@affinio212.com.
